The Priority Services Register explained
The Priority Services Register (PSR) is a free service from energy and water companies for people who need extra help. It's not a guarantee your power stays on, but it means you get more support.
Who can join
- People of pensionable age
- Disabled people or those with a long-term illness
- People who use medical equipment that needs power
- Households with children under 5
- Anyone temporarily in need, for example after a hospital stay
What you get
- Advance warning of planned power cuts
- Priority updates and support during cuts, sometimes hot food or welfare visits
- Bottled water delivery if your water goes off
- Password scheme for callers
How to join
Sign up with your electricity network operator, and separately with your energy supplier and water company. Call 105 to find your network operator.
